Last year we organised three community projects involving different organisations in the village, now we are looking for volunteers to help make new flags and a new sea creature for the parades. You don’t need any particular skills to get involved.
Mevagissey Feast Week is run entirely by volunteers and we need a lot of them to keep the festival going. It is fun and rewarding to get involved, we’re planning an exciting week of events for 2011 so you can try new things, meet new people have fun and make a real contribution to a lovely community event. So why not sign up as a volunteer now?
Some kind of celebration has been held in Mevagissey for hundreds of years and was originally held in December. However this coincided with a busy fishing period and so in 1752 Mevagissey adopted St Peter as its patron saint and has held a festival to celebrate this date 29th June ever since.
This wonderful festival thought to be the longest surviving in the County, owes its success to the blend of traditional and new events which brings the whole community together and welcomes hundreds of visitors to share in its unique celebrations.
Look forward to seeing you at this years Feast......
